As a child,
I shuddered at violence.
As a child,
I grieved at killing others,
at the violence of our words.
I was told that truth came
from outside -
in books,
in words,
in creeds.
I began my search,
I pledged myself in truth,
I studied with passion,
I queried the words, actions,
expressions of others.
Always seeking something deeper,
Always feeling more empty.
I realised that others had little to offer.
Each groping around,
as a blind man in a garden.
The truth is not in books,
It is not inside the minds of others.
Your truth is inside of you,
It always has been,
Only waiting for you to trust yourself.
