When you are young,
you follow the lead of adults -
no matter how confused or abusive the path.
As you start to mature,
questions arise.
Is it right to eat other beings?
Is it right to wage war?
Is it right to exploit the weak?
If you are intelligent in the least,
these sorts of questions will arise within you.
The problem -
though -
is that most either learn to justify the actions of the generations before,
or they find some way to ignore the questions altogether -
again justifying the actions of generations before.
The few -
a choice few -
will continue to question.
These are the people that make our species worthwhile in the cosmos.
These are the people who push against convention.
These are the people who suffer for their questions.
Why are you killing others?
Why do you fill your body with their suffering?
Why do you exploit anyone possible -
all the while wanting others to acknowledge their wrong treatment of you?
Question these things,
or you will live in darkness all your days.
